Common Questions from Parents

Can I use this car seat if my car doesn't have ISOFIX points?

Yes, you can still use this seat without ISOFIX. For children between 100–125 cm (Group 2), the seat can be installed using only the vehicle's 3-point belt without ISOFIX. However, for smaller children (Group 0+ and Group 1, 40–105 cm), ISOFIX is required for safe installation. Before purchasing, check your vehicle's manual to confirm compatibility. The seat is only suitable for vehicles with automatic three-point belts approved by UN Regulation No. 16 or a comparable standard.

My child is 18 months old and 80 cm tall, should I keep them rear-facing or switch to forward-facing?

At 80 cm, your child falls within the Group 1 range (76–105 cm), which supports both rear and forward-facing. However, rear-facing is always the safest position for as long as possible as it distributes crash forces across the whole body. The Welldon Smarturn Air allows rear-facing up to 105 cm, so we strongly recommend keeping your child rear-facing until they reach that height, regardless of age.

The ISOFIX LED is not turning green, does that mean the seat is not installed correctly?

Yes, if the ISOFIX LED is not green it means the ISOFIX connectors are not fully engaged. Push the seat firmly towards the vehicle seat until you hear a click and the LED turns green. Also make sure the support leg is fully extended and touching the vehicle floor. You can use the HawkEye™ installation detection on the Welldon app for real-time confirmation that all components including ISOFIX, support leg, buckle, and rotation are correctly set up before driving.

Can I wash the seat cover and newborn insert?

Yes, the Tencel™ fabric cover and the Air-Fiber newborn insert are both removable for cleaning. Always follow the washing instructions on the label as machine washing on a gentle cycle is generally recommended for Tencel fabric. The silicone leather trim can be wiped down with a damp cloth. Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals as they can damage the OEKO-TEX® certified materials. Never put any part of the harness or buckle system in the washing machine.

How does the Forgotten Reminder System work?

The Forgotten Reminder System works via Bluetooth connection between the seat and the Welldon app on your phone. When you walk away from the vehicle with your phone, the app detects that you are moving away from the seat and sends an alert reminding you that your child may still be in the car. To use this feature, Bluetooth must be enabled on your phone and the seat must be connected to the app. It is an added safety layer but should not replace regular parental vigilance.
